We're excited to share that Centre City New World have become our latest donor.
Staff from the store visited us a couple of months ago to see our team in action. At the time the supermarket were already providing 7-8 church groups and night shelters with their leftover food. After further discussion with Deborah and myself about our initiative Centre City New World were on board!
“We were blown away by the organisation, their professionalism and the volume of food they provide. Being locally owned and operated, we enjoy being an active part of the Dunedin community. It's great to be able to give back to those in need.” Craig Latimer - Operations Manager.
Centre City New World’s food donations are part of its ongoing commitment to charitable causes in the community. Earlier this year, the store matched all donations collected by Dunedin City Elim to help those affected by the South Dunedin flooding.
The store donate to us 6 days a week. This includes bread and bakery items from previous days, fruit and produce that is slightly bruised and hopefully soon chilled and frozen goods.
"Supporting FoodShare is a great way for us to be involved in the community and feed hungry people through our leftover food. Food that up until a few months ago would be going to waste. For us it's great knowing that the organisations we were already supporting will still benefit but FoodShare provides a one stop shop solution. They streamline the whole process making it easier for all involved."
